Ava Bardic scored 23 points and the second-seeded IWU women scored the final six points of overtime to win the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin tournament title at top-seeded Carthage, 74-70. Sawyer White added 19 points for the Titans (22-5) who earned their 15th NCAA Tournament appearance with the victory.
The IWU men battled back from an 18-point halftime deficit to stun Elmhurst, 69-59, to win the CCIW men’s conference title. Mason Funk scored 23 points to lead the Titans (23-4), who will find out their NCAA Tournament opponent on Monday.
The Illinois Central College women earned the No. 1 seed at next week’s Region 24 Tournament with a 111-37 win over Kaskaskia. ICC (27-3) will host Lewis & Clark on Tuesday night at 5:30 p.m. in the tournament quarterfinals.
At the Illinois High School Association state swim meet, Normal Community senior Wade Pyle finished runner-up in both the 100-and-200 freestyle races. Freshmen Jude Hill (Richwoods) and Ethan Rocke (Normal West) each won four races in the Athletes with Disabilities division.
