The Tide entered the matchup following six days off, as Alabama was ice cold on the offensive end of the floor throughout the majority of the night. Star guard Labaron Philon Jr. was elite despite the loss, as Philon recorded an impressive 28 points against the Rebels.

Here are three takeaways from Alabama’s SEC Tournament loss to Ole Miss.

Labaron Philon Jr. stays hot, records 28 points

Philon was one of the only players who showed up offensively against the Rebels. The talented playmaker recorded 28 points on 9-of-16 shooting, as Philon has continued to play a massive role for the Tide on a nightly basis this season.

The star sophomore had an opportunity to win the game during Alabama’s final possession of the contest, but Philon opted to feed the ball to Aiden Sherrell which ultimately led to the Tide losing the game.

Latrell Wrightsell struggles immensely, records 0 points

Wrightsell had one of the worst shooting performances of the season against the Rebels in Nashville. The senior recorded 0 total points on 0-of-5 shooting, including an extremely underwhelming 0-of-4 from behind the arc.

Wrightsell will need to turn things around during the NCAA Tournament, as the talented guard was horrendous against Ole Miss on Friday evening.

Amari Allen stays ice cold, records 5 points

Allen was widely regarded as a top freshman in all of college basketball for the majority of the 2025-26 campaign. The star forward has been ice cold on the offensive end of the floor in March, as Allen recorded just 5 points on 2-of-8 shooting on Friday night in Nashville.

Allen will look to bounce back when the NCAA Tournament begins on March 18, as Alabama has officially been eliminated from the SEC Tournament.

The Tide will now turn their full attention towards Selection Sunday following their inexcusable loss to Ole Miss, as Alabama’s season will officially be on the line for the remainder of the postseason.
