Commanders sending heavy contingent to Ohio State pro day
· Yahoo Sports
There's a good chance that the Washington Commanders' first-round pick will have played his football at THE Ohio State University. Therefore, it's no surprise that Washington is sending all the big guns to Columbus, Ohio, on Wednesday, for the Buckeyes' pro day.
Per NFL draft analyst Ryan Fowler, GM Adam Peters, assistant GM Lance Newmark, head coach Dan Quinn, offensive coordinator David Blough and defensive coordinator Daronte Jones will all be present. That's quite the contingent, and it's not for one player.

The Buckeyes have four players who could be drafted inside the top 10: linebacker/edge Arvell Reese, linebacker Sonny Styles, wide receiver Carnell Tate and safety Caleb Downs. Defensive tackle Kayden McDonald isn't expected to be a top-10 pick, but he will likely hear his name called in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft next month.

All hands on deck for Washington.
Washington has been linked to each of these five prospects, and will host McDonald on a top 30 visit. It wouldn't be a surprise if the Commanders hosted each of these prospects, considering they all play a position of need for Washington. The three names that stand out the most: Styles, Downs and Tate. There's a good chance that Styles, Reese and Downs are all gone before the Commanders are on the clock at No. 7 overall. Washington is desperate for receiver help and many consider Tate to be the draft's top prospect at the position.
The Commanders heavily pursued the top two receivers in free agency. While they didn't land either Alec Pierce or Romeo Doubs, Washington remains committed to adding a starting outside receiver opposite Terry McLaurin. Even if the Commanders plan to sign Brandon Aiyuk if/when the 49ers release him, drafting a receiver at No. 7 overall remains firmly on the table. You can bet Washington will be watching Tate closely.
Ohio State's pro day is always a big event ahead of the NFL draft because of the level of prospects there every year. One month from now, you could make the case that any of the four Ohio State top-10 prospects will be a Washington Commander.
