Vehicle image released in firearm probe; cops investigating gun hoax at movie theatre

Toronto Police are asking the public for help in identifying a suspect and locating a vehicle wanted in a firearm investigation.

Cops say on Friday around 2:15 a.m., they responded to a call for a suspicious incident in the Gerrard St. E.-Woodbine Ave. area.

The suspect was driving a white Chrysler Pacifica when he allegedly got into an altercation with the driver of another vehicle. He used his vehicle to block the victim’s vehicle from moving and allegedly exited the vehicle with a firearm.

The suspect got back into his vehicle and fled from the scene. No injuries were reported to police.

The man has an olive complexion and is about 40 years old and bald with a beard. He was wearing a green sweater at the time. An image of the suspect’s vehicle has been released.

MALES ACCUSED OF THEATRE GUN HOAX

Two men and a male youth from Ajax face causing a disturbance and mischief charges after an incident at a movie theatre in Whitby.

Durham cops say on March 17 around 11:20 p.m., they responded to an armed person call at Landmark Cinemas located at 75 Consumers Dr.

Police say customers were forced to leave a theatre after several males yelled that someone had a firearm and officers were directed toward a trio of males who had also left. Further investigation alleged that the males were creating social media content and had intentionally created a false disturbance to generate a reaction they could film.

No injuries were reported to police.

Charged are Fique Wamiq Ayub, 23, Jaiden Joseph-Anthony Mosquera and a 17-year-old male.

MAN CHARGED AFTER HAMILTON STABBING

Hamilton Police have charged a 28-year-old male in connection with a stabbing in Hamilton.

On Tuesday around 3:30 a.m., police were called to the area of King St. and Victoria Ave. N. with initial information indicating a male had been injured and the suspect was in the vicinity.

Officers arrived on scene and located a 26-year-old male suffering from a stab wound to his torso and provided first aid before the victim was taken to a hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect was located within minutes and taken into custody without incident before being charged with assault with a weapon and aggravated assault.

ROAD-RAGE INCIDENTS SPARK FIREARM PROBE

A 48-year-old Clarington man is facing several firearm charges after Durham cops investigated a pair of road-rage incidents.

In February, investigators with the gun and gang unit began a probe into a male suspect after it was reported he had allegedly pointed a firearm at two different motorists during separate road-rage incidents.

On April 1, a search warrant was executed at a residence in Courtice and a firearm with a prohibited overcapacity magazine was located and seized. The suspect SUV allegedly involved in the incidents was also located and confirmed to be stolen and re-VINed.

Le Var Shamari Lewin was charged with seven firearm-related charges and one of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000. At the time of his arrest, the accused was out on three separate firearm prohibitions.

BB GUN ATTACK IN AJAX

Police are searching for two males after an armed robbery with an imitation firearm in Ajax.

Durham cops say on Friday around 1:55 p.m., they responded to an armed person call in the Delaney Dr.-Westney Rd. area.

Police say the victim used Snapchat to arrange a meeting with the suspect to sell him a watch and upon meeting gave the suspect the watch to try on. The suspect then allegedly began walking back to his vehicle while still wearing the watch.

Cops said when the victim demanded the suspect give back the watch, the suspect allegedly pulled out a firearm and shot toward the victim several times.

The victim suffered minor injuries and was struck once by what appeared to be a BB pellet. The suspect fled to a waiting vehicle, described as a black SUV being driven by a second suspect.

SHOPPERS DRUG MART ROBBED

A 35-year-old Oshawa man is facing multiple charges after allegedly stealing items from a Shoppers Drug Mart in the Oshawa Centre and threatening security with a knife.

On Monday around 11:10 a.m., Durham cops responded to an armed person call at 419 King St. W., where it’s alleged a male entered the store and concealed items in a personal bag before fleeing. When confronted by security, he allegedly made threats while armed with a knife.

Officers searched the area and found the suspect a short distance away, where he was taken into custody without incident.

Alexander Joseph Callaghan is facing six charges including assault with a weapon and breach of probation. At the time of his arrest, the accused was on a weapon prohibition condition.
