If Mel Kiper Jr. is right — which seems to happen a lot — there will be plenty of celebrating April 24 at the Florida home of Illinois outside linebacker Gabe Jacas.

Kiper, who has been the NFL draft guru at at ESPN forever, posted his two-round mock draft Wednesday morning on the network's site. He has Jacas going in the second round, No. 58 overall, to the 49ers.

Kiper wrote of the pick: "The Niners were down Nick Bosa and Mykel Williams last season and their respective returns will do wonders to the edge rush. But there's no getting around the team's 20 sacks last season, by far the lowest total in the league. Jacas had 11 sacks last season; he would at the very least provide depth in case starters go down again."

Kiper expects it to be a good year for the Big Ten in general and for Ohio State in particular. He has four Buckeyes — outside linebacker Arvell Reese (Cardinals), safety Caleb Downs (Giants), linebacker Sonny Styles (Cowboys) and receiver Carnell Tate (Commanders)— getting selected among the first seven picks. Four in the Top 10 will tie a record for one school.

Overall No. 1, Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza, hasn't changed. He is still set for the Las Vegas Raiders.

Other projected Big Ten first-rounders include Southern California receiver Makai Lemon (Rams), Oregon tight end Kenyon Sadiq (Bucs), Indiana receiver Omar Cooper (Jets), Oregon safety Dillon Thieneman (Vikings), Washington receiver Denzel Boston (Browns) and Penn State offensive lineman Ola Ioane (Steelers). That makes 11 from Tony Petitti land in the first round.
