BEXLEY, Ohio (WKBN) – After a tense three innings left the game deadlocked at four apiece, Canfield hit a higher gear on Friday, surging ahead with eight unanswered runs to secure a 12-4 victory over St. Charles.

The offensive onslaught was defined by pure power, as the Cardinals peppered the field with six doubles – a pair came from the red-hot bat of Michael Maszczak.

Maszczak was a perfect 4-for-4, driving in four RBIs to lead the charge.

Patrick Groner finished with three hits and scored three times, while
Anthony Groner and Logan Patellis collected two hits each.

On the mound, Joey Gabriel delivered a six-inning performance, keeping the St. Charles bats in check by allowing just two earned runs and striking out four.

Jackson Johnson then stepped in for a scoreless seventh to slam the door.

Now 6-3 on the season, the Cardinals will look to continue their winning ways with Saturday’s matchup as they take on Beavercreek.
