Tennessee wins, Alabama loses nonconference games ahead of SEC series

Tennessee (27-14, 8-10 SEC) continued a nine-game homestand on Tuesday. The Vols defeated Lipscomb (17-20, 10-8 ASUN), 14-4, in seven innings at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.

Tennessee leads the all-time baseball series, 15-3, against Lipscomb, dating to March 24, 1979.
Ethan Baiotto (2-0) pitched three innings in relief and earned his second win of the season for the Vols. He recorded 24 pitches (16 strikes) against nine batters. Baiotto allowed one hit, zero runs and zero walks.
Tennessee totaled 13 hits, including four home runs. Blaine Brown, Trent Grindlinger, Manny Marin and Stone Lawless hit one home run each for the Vols.
Beginning Thursday, Tennessee will host No. 15 Alabama (28-14, 9-9 SEC) for a three-game SEC series.
Thursday's series opener between the Vols and Crimson Tide is scheduled for 7 p.m. EDT and will be televised by ESPN2. Game 2 on Friday is slated for 6:30 p.m. EDT, while Saturday's series finale will take place at 1 p.m. EDT. Both contests can be watched on SEC Network+.
The Crimson Tide enter the Tennessee series after losing to UAB (26-15, 10-5 AAC), 11-2, on Tuesday at Sewell-Thomas Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
