South Salem baseball player Blake Kansky is the winner of the Maps Credit Union high school boys Athlete of the Week, as voted by Statesman Journal readers.

A senior, Kansky pitched a full seven innings, struck out six batters and allowed just three hits April 22 in the Saxons' 8-1 win over Liberty.
Kansky received 89.47% of the reader poll votes. Sprague baseball player Cameron VanKempen was second (9.86%).

Vinny Arnold, North Marion track and field
Arnold, a senior, threw 180 feet, 3 inches in the javelin April 18 for first at the North Marion Invitational. His toss is the second-best mark in Class 4A this season.
Ty Cirino, Central track and field
Cirino, a senior, ran a 3-minute, 53.13-second 1,500-meter race April 24 for the second-best 5A time of the season at the Nike/Jesuit Twilight Relays.
Mason Pickett, Woodburn baseball
Pickett, a junior, posted two hits and three RBIs April 23 in the Bulldogs' 6-5 win over Dallas.
Cameron VanKempen, Sprague baseball
VanKempen, a senior, recorded two hits, two runs and two RBIs April 24 in the Olympians' 7-5 win over West Salem.
