At 2026 Indy 500, teens at the track get competitive with hacky sack

· Yahoo Sports

Things got competitive at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway this weekend — and we don't just mean that last lap.

During a brief rain delay, four students from University High School in Carmel were seen playing hacky sack in the Pagoda Plaza.

"We've been doing this since 7 a.m.," Nico Nogués said.

Elliot Glennan, Avery Steiner, Walter Wilson and Nogués — a mix of Indy 500 newbies and repeat attendees — continued with their intensely competitive game through the delay.

The four are members of what they call their high school's varsity hacky sack team, known on social media as "University Trailblazers Sackin'."

"We're normally better than this," Glennan said, sounding defeated after a round of unsuccessful volleys.
