As Barcelona continue planning their summer rebuild, the club appears to be monitoring the free-agent market in an attempt to strengthen the squad without creating additional financial pressure.
The latest names being linked with the Catalan side, as reported by El Chiringuito TV, are two experienced Premier League players – Bernardo Silva and Marcos Senesi.
Barcelona’s sporting department appreciates both players because they could become available without a transfer fee, something that naturally fits the club’s current market strategy.
What’s the story?
Among the two names, Senesi’s situation appears to be moving faster.
The Argentine defender is set to leave Bournemouth when his contract expires this summer, bringing an end to a four-year spell in England.
Despite Bournemouth offering him a renewal proposal after an impressive campaign, the centre-back has decided that the time has come for a new challenge.

That decision has alerted several clubs, with Senesi already free to negotiate with interested teams since January.
For what it is worth, Barcelona’s interest in Senesi is not accidental. The club have been searching for a naturally left-footed central defender for some time, especially after difficulties emerged in pursuing Alessandro Bastoni.
Senesi is now being viewed as a realistic alternative not only because of his profile, but also because signing him would not require a transfer fee.
However, Barcelona are not alone in the race, with Tottenham Hotspur also said to be in discussions with the player after narrowly avoiding relegation at the end of the season.
Even so, Barcelona’s interest could significantly change the direction of negotiations, especially given the attraction of joining one of Europe’s biggest clubs.
Then there is Bernardo Silva

Meanwhile, Bernardo Silva’s name continues to resurface around Barcelona almost every transfer window.
The Portuguese playmaker has been offered to the club once again, reviving a connection that has existed for several years.
Yet, the current situation is more complicated. This is because, unlike the defensive department, Barcelona do not view midfield as an urgent area that requires immediate reinforcement.
The club believe they already possess enough depth in those positions, meaning any possible move for the Portuguese will depend heavily on whether other priorities are completed first.
If Barcelona manage to resolve their more pressing transfer needs, the possibility of revisiting a move for the Portuguese international could become much more realistic later in the summer.
