SRH's full IPL playoff history listed
After taking over from the defunct Deccan Chargers prior to IPL 2013, Sunrisers Hyderabad soon positioned itself among one of the strongest teams in the league.
While being led by the likes of David Warner, Kane Williamson and eventually Pat Cummins, SRH emerged as a consistent force in the playoffs thanks to their aggressive batting lineup and disciplined bowling attack.
Since entering the league in 2013, SRH have managed to qualify for the IPL playoffs on eight occasions. The last time they managed to do this was during IPL 2026 when they got through to the playoffs on May 18 after beating the Chennai Super Kings by five wickets at Chepauk.
Despite defeating table-toppers Royal Challengers Bengaluru by 55 runs in their final IPL 2026 league stage fixture, SRH will have to be content with a pure knock-out route in the playoffs on account of finishing third on net run rate on the points table.

2013
SRH had an excellent first-time experience of the IPL after replacing Deccan Chargers in the league. The team was captained by Kumar Sangakkara and Cameron White and secured the fourth position during the league stages. They lost to Rajasthan Royals in the Eliminator match.
2016
Under captain David Warner, SRH had their best IPL campaign when they clinched the title for the first time in their franchise history.
They ended up third on the IPL points table, after which they defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by 22 runs in the Eliminator, Gujarat Lions by 4 wickets in Qualifier 2, and finally defeated RCB by 8 runs to win the IPL title, with Warner’s batting and Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s bowling forming the crux throughout the campaign.
2017
For the second consecutive year, SRH qualified for the playoffs after performing well throughout the league phase of the tournament. David Warner yet again took charge with the bat as SRH came third in the league table.

Nevertheless, their journey came to an end in the Eliminator against KKR, losing by 7 wickets in the knockout stage.
2018
Without David Warner in their ranks, the SRH team was led by Kane Williamson during a very successful stint in the league that led to the final.
The SRH team topped the league table with their powerful bowling attack of Rashid Khan and Siddharth Kaul. However, despite defeating KKR by 14 runs in Qualifier 2, the win was sandwiched by losses to CSK in both Qualifier 1 and the final.
2019
With Williamson continuing as captain, David Warner was the top run-scorer with 692 runs during IPL 2019, racking up those runs as an opener along with Jonny Bairstow. Hyderabad barely made it to the playoffs on net run rate, and then failed to get past Delhi Capitals in the Eliminator.
2020
Despite beginning the season with some inconsistent performances, SRH bounced back brilliantly in the UAE phase of the tournament.
