UCF’s baseball game with N.C. State suspended due to weather
· Yahoo Sports
Turns out the weather was the only thing that UCF didn’t have an answer for during Friday night’s Game 2 of the NCAA’s Auburn Regional at Plainsman Park.
Visit livefromquarantine.club for more information.
The game was suspended in the top of the eighth inning with the Knights leading N.C. State, 9-3 with a runner on and two outs after lightning was spotted in the area. After an hour-long delay, it was decided that the game would resume on Saturday at 12:02 p.m.
It was the second weather delay as the start of the game was pushed two hours due to inclement weather in the area.
The winner advances to face Milwaukee in the winner’s bracket of the double-elimination tournament on Saturday at 8 p.m. The Panthers scored 13 runs on 16 hits to upset host Auburn, 13-8, in the first game on Friday. The loser takes on the Tigers in Game 3 at 3 p.m.
After falling behind 3-0 in the first inning, the Knights stormed back to score nine runs over the next seven innings.
UCF right fielder Andrew Williamson crushed three home runs: a 2-run blast in the first inning, a 3-run homer in the fifth and a solo shot in the seventh. It was the seventh time that a Knight batter had three home runs in a game and the first since Danny Neri did it against Cincinnati in the Big 12 Tournament on May 21, 2024.
