Liverpool favourite could exit Anfield as major update emerges

Liverpool's 2026-27 summer transfer window is going to be full of change.

Most fans probably thought that their team would stay the same for the next couple of years after the Reds chose to spend £450 million on new players last summer.

However, since they only just managed to earn qualification to the Champions League, it's clear that even more changes need to be made this time around.

Andy Robertson, Mohamed Salah and now on free transfers.

And, even though the Reds' fanbase will probably think that's enough players leaving already, one more fan-favourite could also end up exiting before the start of the new season.

Arne Slot's departure could mean that Alisson is sold by Liverpool

As the 2025-26 season came to an end, rumours were consistently shared about the future of Alisson.

The Brazilian is one of the best goalkeepers in the world but, due to the number of injuries he suffered, it seemed like Liverpool were considering selling the 'keeper.

Juventus have been the team leading the way from the very start but, since Arne Slot was losing Salah and Robertson already, he didn't want to lose anymore experience from his starting XI which meant Alisson was going to stay put.

However, as per an update from La Gazzetta Dello Sport, now that the Dutchman has been sacked, the 33 year old's future has been thrown up in the air once again.

"The 33-year-old Brazilian goalkeeper has had an agreement in principle with the Bianconeri for several months," they wrote.

"Liverpool froze the number one and Juventus earlier this week. The departure was a red light: the management and coach Slot did not want to lose Alisson's leadership after the departures of Salah and Robertson.

"It seemed like a closed issue, at least until yesterday: instead, the earthquake that erupted at Anfield could reopen the game. The Reds have sacked Slot, and the shockwave could spread to the management.

"Alisson will reiterate his desire to stay at Juventus to the new manager. Spalletti is keeping his fingers crossed."

Liverpool cannot give themselves another player to replace this summer

The rebuild that Liverpool already have on their hands is massive.

The Anfield outfit need to put in a much better performance next season with their fans likely expecting them to challenge for the Premier League and the Champions League.

Indeed, things such as injuries need to be ironed out but when the Reds know who their new manager is going to be, their rebuild needs to start almost instantly.

They already need to sign at least five players to bolster their ranks and, since they have to replace stalwarts such as Salah, there's going to be a lot of pressure placed upon Liverpool's heads.

Indeed, Liverpool will probably want a more reliable number one in the future but, as Alisson has shown over the last few years, he's still one of the best keeper's in the world.

And, since he'll only have a year left on his contract when the 2026-27 season kicks off, he'd probably be moved on for a cut-rate fee.

All of these conditions, coupled with the massive rebuild they already have on their hands make it seem silly for them to even consider moving Alisson on, especially with how poor Mamardashvili has been when called upon.
