MTSU men's basketball to face Kansas, Bill Self in upcoming season

Middle Tennessee State men's basketball has scheduled an away trip against one of college basketball's elite programs during the 2026-27 season.

MTSU announced it will face Kansas and coach Bill Self at Allen Fieldhouse on Nov. 6 as part of its non-conference schedule for the upcoming season. It will be the first time the Blue Raiders have faced Kansas since November 2000, when the Jayhawks downed MTSU 92-66.

The time of the matchup has not been announced. The remainder of MTSU's non-conference opponents, will be announced on a later date.

MTSU is 0-3 against Kansas all-time, with two of those losses coming at Allen Fieldhouse.

Last season MTSU went 17-15, falling in the Conference USA Tournament to Louisiana Tech. Two of the Blue Raiders' regular-season losses came against national powers in Houston and eventual national champion Michigan.

Kansas was 24-11 last season and entered the NCAA Tournament as a No. 4 seed, reaching the Round of 32 where it fell 67-65 to St. John's.
