The latest MLB Power Rankings don't bode well for the Boston Red Sox, who dropped two spots while three American League East rivals gained ground.

The New York Yankees inched up from No. 5 to No. 4.

"Aaron Judge may be glad to have May over. He hit half as many homers (five) in May as he did in April, and his OPS was a full 270 points lower as well," MLB.com's Will Leitch wrote.

The Tampa Bay Rays, who sit atop the division, dropped from No. 2 to No. 5.

"On Thursday and Saturday, Rays starters gave up five runs or more. They had done that only twice in the previous 52 games. (They are still in first place, do not worry.)," Leitch added.

The Toronto Blue Jays climbed three spots to No. 15 and the Baltimore Orioles jumped from No. 24 to No. 20.

Last but not least are the Red Sox, who slipped from No. 22 to No. 24.

"The Red Sox have been playing a little better lately, but this whole season has felt like one step forward, two steps back. Witness: Garrett Crochet had a setback in his recovery from left shoulder inflammation and will be out longer than he, and his team, had hoped," Leitch said.

The somewhat align with the AL East standings, which has the Red Sox in last place, 11.5 games behind the first-place Rays.

As for the best of the best, here are the top three clubs in MLB.com's Power Rankings:

  1. Atlanta Braves (no change from last week)
  2. Los Angeles Dodgers (up from No. 3)
  3. Milwaukee Brewers (up from No. 4)
