Scott Forbes names game one starter for super regional

· Yahoo Sports

The North Carolina Tar Heels baseball program is two wins away from returning to Omaha. All that stands in their way are the USC Trojans, who will come to Chapel Hill for the super regional beginning on Friday.

With game one set for Friday afternoon, manager Scott Forbes has set his starter and he's going back to Ryan Lynch.

On Thursday, Forbes told the media that Lynch will get the start for the opening game of the super regional. It comes one week after he was handed the ball for the game one start in the Chapel Hill Regional, beating VCU last Friday.

With Jason DeCaro being their normal ace throughout the season, he will now get the start in what will be a very important game two no matter what happens in game one. It's a strategy that paid off for Forbes last week.

It gives DeCaro the chance to either send UNC to Omaha or save their season on Saturday.

Lynch has a 5-4 record with a 4.07 ERA this season and will go against USC ace Mason Edwards. The left-hander was the Big Ten Pitcher of the Year for the Trojans.

If there is a game three, it will likely be Folger Boaz.
