According to those close to the situation, Watson might be ahead of Sanders so far in the competition, but that doesn’t seem to be a concern for either Browns quarterback.
When Sanders was asked recently if he and Watson planned to hold separate workouts with their teammates, Sanders gave an interesting response.
“I think that was just a question to try to start something, honestly,” he told a reporter. “I think we’re a team. If one of us chooses to do something, we’re all going to do it together as a team. It’s not no individual thing. So that’s the thing, like the quarterback room, we’re all connected. We’re all cool. That’s the difference. We’re all cool. We all communicate with each other.
Watson plans to hold separate workouts with some offensive players from the team later this season down in South Florida.
Sanders added that the quarterbacks haven’t considered conducting their own sessions for offensive teammates “because that creates separation with, ‘OK, now what was he going to show up for this guy?’ Nah, we’re all team. We’re all going to come as one. We’re all going to get together as one team and get things done. Because then that causes separation and just a messed-up vibe and it’s like, that’s not really what we’re on this year. We’re on being a great team.”
