FSU transfer commit ranked as No. 3 corner infielder

· Yahoo Sports

The FSU softball program has dipped into the transfer portal this offseason, and they made quite a splash. Nicole Edmiaston, the ASUN Player of the Year, committed to the Seminoles on Friday after a sensational season at Stetson.

The first baseman is coming off a career year and adds some needed power to FSU's lineup. She hit 23 home runs last season and finished with a .900 slugging percentage to go with a .453 batting average and 70 RBI. It was a massive move for head coach Lonni Alameda, who can now slide Hayley Griggs to the left side of the infield, where the Seminoles have to replace Isa Torres and Jaysoni Beachum.

While players are still entering the portal and the rankings could change, Edmiaston is one of the top players overall. She is in an 11-way tie to be Softball America's 13th-best player in the portal with a 92.00 overall grade. She is also in a two-way tie as the 3rd-best corner infielder.

Edmiaston will have one season of eligibility at FSU after spending the first two years at Florida SouthWestern State, a Junior College in Fort Myers, Florida. She broke Stetson's season record for home runs, RBI, and total bases (153).

She has some experience against her new teammates, playing them twice in the Tallahassee Regional. She went 2-8 with a home run, two runs scored, a walk, and a strikeout.
