It's time to vote for the Montgomery Advertiser's girls Athlete of the Week, presented by the Vance Law Firm for the week of May 18-22.

Voting will open Sunday, May 24, and will be open until noon Thursday, May 28. The winner will be announced on Friday, May 29. Nominees are based off of top performers that are sent in by high school coaches or statisticians. Coaches and team stat keepers can send in stats to [email protected] to nominate players.

Montgomery Advertiser's Girls Athlete of the Week nominees presented by Vance Law Firm for May 18-22

  • Saint James' Emily Needham pitched 26 innings, went 4-0, struck out 35 batters and had six hits for three RBIs during the Class 3A AHSAA softball state tournament on May 21-22. Needham was named MVP of the championship game.
  • Wetumpka's Lalah Culpepper pitched seven innings, only allowing one earned run on six hits in a AHSAA state tournament win on May 18. Culpepper struck out five batters on 99 pitches.
  • Saint James' Sydney Johnston recorded five hits and four RBIs during the 3A AHSAA softball state tournament on May 21-22.
  • Saint James' Emily Darby recorded five hits and three RBIs during the 3A AHSAA softball state tournament on May 21-22.
