Real Madrid Basketball lost Sunday’s Euroleague Final against Olympiacos 92-85. Los Blancos were severely undermanned after injuries to their three centers Edy Tavares, Alex Len and Usman Garuba, making Olympiacos the heavy favorites as Madrid were forced to play without an interior presence. The Greek team were also playing in front of around 10,000 of their fans, given that the Final Four took place in Panathinaikos’ Arena in Athens, Greece.

Real Madrid competed at a very high level throughout the entire game, with notable performances from Mario Hezonja (19 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists) and Trey Lyles (24 points, 8 rebounds). However, some questionable calls by the referees in clutch time proved to be too much for Sergio Scariolo’s team to survive.

Madrid guard Andrés Feliz had an opportunity to tie the game from the three-point line with 11 seconds to go but his shot hit the rim, giving Olympiacos their fourth Euroleague title. Real Madrid remain the all-time leader in Euroleague titles with 11 trophies.
